About the Role:
Contribute to the effective and efficient management of the school science department by providing technical and administration support to the respective Head of Department, teachers and laboratory staff of the school science department.
Work independently within guidelines, general directions and instructions, performing responsible tasks associated with the efficient operation of the school science department.
The Science Department at Rochedale State High School services a large co-hort of the school on a daily basis.
Work with teachers and other Scientific Technicians to assist in learning outcomes for students. This includes work in the classrooms to assist where necessary.
Science is a high achieving area of the school and requires someone with current experience and understanding of the role
Responsibilities:
Prepare and maintain laboratory equipment, chemicals, specimens, and teaching resources for practical science lessons.
Ensure laboratories, preparation rooms, and storerooms are safe, organised, and compliant with health and safety requirements.
Manage chemical handling, storage, waste disposal, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and laboratory records.
Operate, calibrate, maintain, and arrange repairs for scientific equipment and resources.
Support teachers and students during practical activities, demonstrations, field trips, and STEM initiatives.
Maintain inventory, stock control, asset registers, and procurement processes, including ordering supplies and managing budgets.
Develop and review laboratory procedures, safety protocols, and compliance documentation.
Liaise with staff, suppliers, schools, and external organisations to support science programs and student learning outcomes.
