About the Role:
This is a Fixed-Time role at 80 hours per fortnight to provide backfill for parental leave within the Oncology Pharmacy Team in the Children’s Cancer Centre (until September 2027). Part-time candidates wishing to job share will be considered. You will be responsible for providing clinical pharmacy services to the Children’s Cancer Centre including in-patient ward and Day Oncology Unit. You will also be required to participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, clinical trials and other relevant projects as required.
Internally, this position will be known and/or referred to as: Oncology Pharmacist, Pharmacist (Grade 2) - Oncology.
Classification for this position is in accordance to Award 18 - Medical Scientists.
Depending on experience and qualifications, the successful candidate will be appointed from SX2 (Pharmacist Grade 2, Year 1) to SX5 (Pharmacist Grade 2, Year 4), $94,478.80 - $106,906.80 per annum, plus superannuation.
What you’ll achieve:

Experience in the provision of a clinical ward service, patient medication counselling, provision of specialised drug information, dispensing services for inpatients and outpatients, maintenance of oncology protocols in the EMR and aseptic drug preparation for cytotoxic and hazardous medications.

Maintain professional working relationships with all patients/consumers and fellow health professionals; incorporate this to ensure effective and desirable outcomes for all, with a focus on patient safety.

Commit to maintaining professional membership to relevant organisations including the Children’s Oncology Group and the Australia New Zealand Children’s Haematology and Oncology Group (ANZCHOG).

Participate in the weekend and overtime roster, as required, and the on-call roster for the Oncology Pharmacy.
Your skills and experience:

Bachelor of Pharmacy or equivalent.

Registered to practice as a pharmacist with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency & name appears on the register of the Pharmacy Board of Australia.

Experience in paediatrics and/ or oncology hospital pharmacy services is desirable.

The Pharmacy Department is a team of around 70 staff including pharmacists, technicians, and administrators. Our supportive and collaborative teams include Outpatients, Children’s Cancer Centre, Clinical Pharmacy, Clinical trials, and Medicines Information, HiTH and Sterile Services and the Pharmacy Business Unit.
