Salary: $79,000 – $80,000 per annum plus superannuation
The Claisebrook Bar is a busy waterfront venue located in Claisebrook Cove, East Perth, offering modern pub dining, functions and hospitality services in a vibrant social setting. We are currently seeking an experienced Chef to join our kitchen team on a full-time basis.
The successful applicant will be responsible for preparing, cooking and presenting high-quality dishes while contributing to menu planning, food quality control and the efficient day-to-day operation of the kitchen.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook and present a variety of dishes in accordance with menu specifications and established quality standards
- Assist with menu planning, seasonal menu development and daily specials
- Check the quality of ingredients and prepared dishes to ensure consistency in taste, presentation and portioning
- Monitor food preparation and cooking processes to maintain quality and minimise wastage
- Coordinate food preparation and cooking activities during service to ensure meals are delivered efficiently and within required timeframes
- Estimate food and ingredient requirements and assist with ordering kitchen supplies
- Monitor stock levels, food storage and stock rotation to maintain freshness and minimise wastage
- Ensure food and ingredients are stored correctly and maintained at appropriate temperatures
- Supervise and support cooks and other kitchen staff during food preparation and service
- Demonstrate cooking techniques and provide guidance and training to kitchen staff where required
- Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness throughout the kitchen
- Ensure compliance with applicable food safety and workplace health and safety requirements
- Monitor kitchen equipment and report maintenance or repair requirements where necessary
- Work collaboratively with management and front-of-house staff to support efficient service delivery
Qualifications and Experience Required
Applicants must have either:
- A relevant AQF Diploma or Advanced Diploma qualification (or equivalent) in Commercial Cookery, Hospitality or a related field, together with at least one year of relevant full-time work experience;
- OR
- At least three years of relevant full-time work experience as a Chef or in a closely related commercial cookery role in lieu of formal qualifications.

- Strong commercial cooking and food preparation skills
- Sound knowledge of culinary techniques and commercial kitchen operations
- Experience with menu planning, recipe development and food presentation
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work efficiently during busy service periods
- Ability to supervise and support other kitchen staff when required
- Good understanding of stock control, food storage and wastage management
- Sound knowledge of food safety and hygiene requirements
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong knife-handling and food preparation skills
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Availability to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required
