Step into a role within the Queensland Police Service as a Automotive Tradesperson, where your contributions will directly enhance operational capability and meet organisational objectives. As a member of Fleet Services Group, reporting to the Workshop Supervisor you will be required to conduct repairs and scheduled maintenance of QPS vehicles and equipment, ensuring all assets are fit for purpose and maintained to meet the complex environment in which they are deployed and utilised.
The core capability requirements for this role are:
- Undertake repairs, servicing, and preventative maintenance of passenger vehicles, four-wheel drives, motorcycles, ATVs, light commercial and a limited range of medium commercial vehicles and ancillary equipment to meet the manufacturer's specifications.
- Diagnose faults and complete repairs of vehicles and equipment including use of electronic diagnostic equipment and/or road test in both workshop and field environments.
- Undertake the selection and ordering of automotive parts and accessories as required by the workshop.
- Inspect vehicles and issue safety certificates in accordance with QLD Transport Regulations.
- Follow safety procedures to maintain a safe work environment and competently and safely use hand and special tools and electronic diagnostic equipment, ensuring all work is carried out in compliance with Workplace Health and Safety requirements.
- Participate in ongoing training to maintain competencies and operate in a team environment.
- Completion of accurate and timely verbal and written communication as required, including but not limited to, job sheets, work orders, service reporting and recording and processing maintenance information.
This position also attracts an additional 10% Skills Acquisition Allowance, which will be paid in addition to your base salary, as specified in the Queensland Police Service Staff Members Certified Agreement 2023. This allowance is currently being honoured pending the finalisation of a replacement Certified Agreement.
