Disability Support Worker – Home & Community | Tweed Heads
Ardent Disability Care is seeking an active, reliable and engaging Disability Support Worker to provide one-to-one home and community-based support to an NDIS participant in the Tweed Heads area.
We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys getting out into the community, building positive rapport and supporting a participant to remain active, engaged and as independent as possible.
Experience and confidence supporting people with epilepsy and mental health needs is important for this role.
Pay: SCHADS Award casual rates, based on classification, qualifications and experience, plus applicable penalty rates.
About the Role
The role involves a combination of in-home support and community access, tailored to the participant's individual needs, interests and goals.
Duties may include:
- Supporting the participant with community access and social activities
- Encouraging an active and engaging lifestyle
- Providing practical support within the home
- Supporting independence and daily living skills
- Providing appropriate support in relation to mental health needs
- Recognising and responding appropriately to seizures
- Following the participant's epilepsy/seizure management plan
- Medication assistance where required and within scope
- Building positive rapport while maintaining professional boundaries
- Monitoring wellbeing and reporting changes or concerns
- Completing accurate progress notes and required documentation
About You
The participant is looking for a support worker who is active, energetic, approachable and confident in the community. The right personality and compatibility are very important for this role.
You will need to be comfortable supporting someone with both epilepsy and mental health needs and be able to remain calm and respond appropriately when required.
Essential Requirements
- Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability or equivalent
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Current First Aid and CPR
- Current Australian driver's licence
- Reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance
- Experience working as a Disability Support Worker
- Experience or demonstrated understanding of epilepsy and seizure management
- Experience supporting people with mental health needs
- Confident providing both in-home and community-based support
- Physically able and willing to participate in active community activities
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Reliable and committed to maintaining regular rostered shifts
- Unrestricted, ongoing working rights in Australia

Pay: From $45.28 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 18.0 per week
