Position Description – Graduate Landscape Architect

Purpose
The Graduate Landscape Architect role will be responsible for project management,
managing consultants, design development, consultation, documentation and contract
administration for Council’s parks and open spaces.
The primary objective of this position is to contribute to the delivery of open space and
recreation projects. This role requires understanding and knowledge in project planning and
project management with the key focus on consultation, liaison and negotiation with the
community, customers, contractors, suppliers and staff across the organisation to ensure
coordinated and collaborative outcomes.
Strong communication skills and an ability to maintain solid relationships with internal and
external stakeholders will be vital to this role.

Key Deliverables
- Working in conjunction with the Open Space and Recreation Planning team to deliver
the open space works program.
- Assist in ensuring that landscape projects are within budget requirements to meet
work area plans.
- Utilising skills and abilities to contribute to projects across the organisation to deliver
on City of Marion business needs.
- Contribute to the management of operational risk and implement risk management
processes within the business unit.
Person Specification
Essential criteria
- Degree in Landscape Architecture together with 0-5 years of relevant skills and
experience.
- Commitment to working towards registration with Australian Institute of Landscape
Architects (AILA).
- Understanding of project management skills from design to delivery including
working with multidisciplinary teams to achieve organisational goals.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Adobe CS Suite (Indesign and Photoshop).
- Ability to interpret, review and develop landscape design, design development and
construction documentation.
- Ability to develop community consultation documentation and willingness to assist in
undertaking community consultation.
