About the role:
We are seeking an experienced, full-time Sous Chef to join our kitchen brigade. Reporting to the Head Chef and second-in-charge of the kitchen, you will help lead daily kitchen operations, maintain our quality and presentation standards, and supervise and develop our kitchen team.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Assist the Head Chef in managing daily kitchen operations and supervising kitchen staff
- Contribute to menu planning and the development of new dishes
- Oversee food preparation and service to ensure quality, taste and presentation standards are consistently met, particularly during busy periods
- Monitor inventory, coordinate stock ordering with suppliers, control food costs and minimise waste
- Train, mentor and motivate kitchen team members to maintain high performance
- Enforce hygiene, food safety and workplace health and safety standards
- Take charge of kitchen operations in the Head Chef's absence
Qualifications and requirements
- Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (SIT40516) or equivalent
- Bachelor's degree in hospitality management (or related field) desirable
- Demonstrated experience in a senior kitchen role
- Sound knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards (HACCP)
- Ability to work evenings, weekends and during peak periods
- Full working rights in Australia
Pay: $80,000.00 per year
