We are currently working with a consortium to delivering one of the major Renewable Energy Zones in NSW, and to date have been providing project management support services, initially during the pre-financial close phase and now continuing into project delivery.
We have an opening for a Secondary Engineer – Electrical Engineer to:
- Develop detailed designs for substation secondary systems, including protection, control, and communication systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and client specifications.
- Create and review electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings, and perform calculations and simulations to validate design concepts and ensure system reliability.
- Collaborate with primary systems design engineers, civil engineers, and other project team members, and coordinate with clients, contractors, and suppliers to gather requirements and ensure design feasibility.
- Provide technical support during the construction and commissioning phases of projects.
- Prepare technical documentation, including design reports, specifications, and test procedures, maintain accurate records of design changes, decisions, and project milestones, and generate and review bill of materials (BOM) for project components.
- Conduct design reviews and quality checks to ensure accuracy and completeness of designs, implementing best practices and lessons learned from previous projects to improve design processes.
- Stay updated with the latest industry standards, codes, and regulations related to substation design, and ensure all designs adhere to relevant safety and environmental guidelines.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance design efficiency and quality and provide training and mentorship to junior engineers and support staff.
Minimum Qualifications &/or Skills:
- Bachelor of Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in substation design, focusing on secondary systems.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering substation design projects.
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of electrical protection and control systems.
Minimum Experience:
- Bachelor of Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in substation design, focusing on secondary systems.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering substation design projects.
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of electrical protection and control systems.
- Knowledge of IEC, IEEE, and other relevant standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Pay: $502.84 – $1,081.05 per day
Work Location: Hybrid remote in Sydney NSW
