Assistant Accountant
We are looking for a dedicated Assistant Accountant to join our team in Guildford. In this role you will play a key part in managing financial operation and ensuring the overall financial health and efficiency of the organization.
Work closely with Accounting Manager, you will handle a range of responsibilities from daily handling of accounting tasks, bookkeeping, office administration, assist with financial reporting, and maintain the overall accuracy of our financial records while working closely with various teams to achieve operational goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Record daily customers' transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
- Process invoices, payments, and receipts, and follow up on outstanding invoices with clients on timely manner and vendors as necessary.
- Assistance in Payroll process as necessary, staff reimbursements.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and general ledger accounts regularly to ensure financial accuracy minimum weekly basis.
- Manage employee expense reports, verifying and categorising expenses for accurate financial reporting.
- Support the Accounting Manager in financial close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliation, assistance in compliance matters.
- Enter financial data into the accounting system and conduct routine reviews to identify discrepancies.
- Handle other administrative duties as required
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Tertiary qualification in accounting or a relevant experience.
- 1-3 years of relevant experience in a finance or accounting role, preferably in Building & Construction industry or a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., MYOB, QuickBooks, Xero, or similar), Microsoft Excel, and general ledger functions.
- Understanding of accounting principles, processes, and reporting
- Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy in data entry and record keeping.
- Good analytical, problem-solving skills, and organising skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills dealing with different departments.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong time management to prioritise tasks to meet deadlines.
Pay: $60,000.00 – $70,000.00 per year
