Queensland Tissue Products Pty Ltd is an Australian-owned manufacturer of tissue and paper products based in Carole Park, Queensland. Our operations involve the manufacture, storage and distribution of a range of household and commercial tissue products within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
Efficient supply, inventory management, warehousing and distribution are integral to our operations. We are seeking an experienced Warehouse and Distribution Manager to lead and coordinate our warehouse, inventory and distribution functions and ensure the efficient movement of materials and finished products through our supply chain.
About the Role
The Warehouse and Distribution Manager will be responsible for planning, organising, directing, controlling and coordinating the storage and distribution of goods across the business.
The position will manage warehouse and inventory operations, stock control, outbound distribution and transport coordination, while working closely with production, procurement, sales and other operational teams to ensure stock availability and timely delivery of finished products to customers.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop and implement effective warehouse and distribution strategies, optimise inventory levels and logistics costs, maintain accurate inventory and transaction records, and lead the warehouse and distribution team to achieve operational and customer service objectives.
Key Responsibilities
The key responsibilities of the position include:
- Developing, implementing and monitoring warehouse, inventory and distribution strategies, policies, procedures and operational plans to support the Company's manufacturing and customer delivery requirements.
- Planning and maintaining appropriate stock levels of materials and finished goods to meet production and customer demand while minimising excess inventory, storage requirements and associated costs.
- Monitoring and reviewing warehouse, storage and inventory control systems to ensure stock availability, inventory accuracy and efficient utilisation of warehouse capacity.
- Overseeing systems and processes for recording and tracking the receipt, storage, transfer and dispatch of materials and finished products, including ensuring that stock movements and inventory transactions are accurately recorded.
- Planning and coordinating the storage and distribution of finished tissue products from the Company's manufacturing operations to customers and other required destinations.
- Managing outbound distribution activities, including dispatch planning, transport scheduling, freight coordination and liaison with external transport and logistics service providers.
- Liaising closely with production, procurement, sales, customer service and other departments regarding stock availability, production requirements, dispatch priorities, customer orders and transportation arrangements.
- Reviewing inventory requirements and coordinating the timely replenishment and movement of stock to maintain required stock levels and support continuity of production and customer supply.
- Monitoring warehouse and distribution performance through relevant operational measures, including inventory accuracy, warehouse capacity, freight and distribution costs, order fulfilment and on-time delivery performance.
- Identifying and implementing improvements to warehouse layouts, inventory systems, distribution processes and logistics workflows to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs and support business growth.
- Managing relationships and, where required, negotiating service arrangements with transport, freight, warehousing and other logistics service providers to meet the Company's quality, cost and delivery requirements.
- Overseeing the recording and reconciliation of storage, inventory and distribution transactions and ensuring appropriate operational records and reports are maintained.
- Leading, directing and coordinating warehouse and distribution employees, including allocating responsibilities, monitoring performance and ensuring that operational objectives are achieved.
- Ensuring warehouse and distribution activities are conducted in accordance with applicable workplace health and safety requirements, Company policies, quality standards and product-handling procedures.
Skills and Experience
To be considered for this position, applicants should have:
- Demonstrated experience in warehouse, supply chain, inventory and/or distribution management, preferably within a manufacturing, FMCG or other high-volume product environment.
- Strong experience in managing inventory levels, warehouse operations, stock control and outbound distribution.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement warehouse and distribution strategies, procedures and process improvements.
- Experience coordinating transport, freight and third-party logistics providers and managing distribution requirements across multiple customers or delivery destinations.
- Experience using inventory management, warehouse management and/or ERP systems to monitor stock movements and maintain accurate inventory records.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to review operational data, identify inefficiencies and implement practical improvements.
- Demonstrated leadership and people-management skills, with the ability to direct, supervise and develop warehouse and distribution personnel.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with production, procurement, sales, customers, transport providers and other stakeholders.
- A strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements applicable to warehouse and distribution operations.
Experience within the paper, tissue, FMCG or high-volume manufacturing sector will be highly regarded.
