Shape the future of rail services for millions of NSW passengers, from suburban commuters to regional travellers, across a complex and multi-operator rail network.
Lead the strategic function that keeps NSW's rail network moving – for passengers and goods - now and for decades to come.
In this role you'll:
Lead whole-of-system rail service planning across suburban, intercity and regional networks, establishing the frameworks, standards and governance that underpin timetable development and service optimisation across NSW.
Drive the Standard Working Timetable lifecycle, ensuring Transport for NSW meets its statutory obligations under the Transport Administration Act 1988 and that timetable performance is assured end-to-end.
Provide authoritative strategic advice to senior executives and government on service strategies, network capacity scenarios and timetable change, translating complex technical analysis into clear, defensible recommendations.
Lead engagement across rail operators, infrastructure planners and policy teams to ensure service plans are operationally feasible, integrated across the transport cluster and aligned to freight needs, customer demand and government priorities.
Build and inspire a high-performing multidisciplinary team of 20+ specialists, fostering a culture of innovation, evidence-based decision-making and continuous improvement in service planning practice.
This is a permanent Transport Senior Service Executive (1A) role. Please see the role description and Information Pack for more information.
About You
You are an experienced leader in rail or public transport service planning, with deep technical expertise across timetable development, demand forecasting, service modelling and network optimisation.
You've led complex planning functions within multi-operator or government environments, and you bring the credibility to influence senior executives and government stakeholders alongside the capability to develop and inspire high-performing technical teams.
You translate infrastructure capability into practical, customer-focused service outcomes and hold your ground when navigating competing priorities under pressure.
A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience is required, along with a proven track record leading multidisciplinary teams through large-scale, time-critical planning programs.
NSW's rail services needs a leader ready to shape them to the needs of the NSW public and business, and we’re keen to hear from you - apply now!
