Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Lead a team of auditors, providing assurance and advisory services to the Department on strategic issues affecting the organisation, especially new information systems and initiatives, technology enhancements and program performance.
- Manage and coordinate a program of audit projects of departmental operations to ensure their efficiency, effectiveness, economy and financial and legislative compliance.
- Support the Chief Auditor and Director (Audit Services) in the development of an annual audit plan for the Department that provides for the effective coverage of the department's operations, in accordance with current and emerging risks to the Department, including the management and co-ordination of internal audit resources ensuring that the requirements of the Chief Auditor prescribed in the Financial Accountability Act 2009 and the Financial and Performance Management Standard 2009 are met.
- Incorporate the development and implementation of technology-enabled auditing tools and techniques to achieve efficiencies in expanding audit coverage, tracking issues and providing exception reports.
- Develop and maintain strong networks and relationships across the Department to deliver priorities surrounding the internal audit function through representation and promotion of the unit and individual audit products to client agencies, working groups, steering committees and applicable sector wide forums.
- Supervise and manage staff in line with quality human resource management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, occupational health and safety and ethical behaviours.
- Assist in the development of staff through input into audits and direction of projects, and specifically in the development of ICT auditing skills and knowledge of other internal auditors within the branch.
- Assist the Chief Auditor and Director (Audit Services) in reviewing audit work papers, recommendations and reports ensuring the quality of all audit processes and outcomes, and adherence to professional Auditing Standards.
