About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and qualified Japanese Restaurant Chef to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing authentic Japanese dishes, maintaining high food quality standards, and ensuring kitchen operations run smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook Japanese dishes including sushi, sashimi, donburi, tempura and other menu items.
- Ensure consistent food quality, taste, and presentation.
- Develop and improve menu items and recipes.
- Maintain food safety and hygiene standards in accordance with Australian regulations.
- Manage kitchen operations, including stock control, ordering, and minimising waste.
- Train and supervise kitchen staff when required.
- Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety policies.
- Work efficiently during busy service periods.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Experience in sushi ans sashimi preparation.
- Minimum 2–3 years of relevant work experience as a Japanese chef (or equivalent).
- Strong knowledge of Japanese cuisine techniques and ingredients.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
- Understanding of Australian food safety and hygiene standards.
- Right to work in Australia (or eligible for sponsorship, if applicable).
Preferred (but not essential)
- Experience in high-volume Japanese restaurants.
- Leadership or supervisory experience.
- English communication skills suitable for kitchen operations.

Pay: $68,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year
