About the Role
As a Chef at Singh Curry House Narangba, you will plan and organise the preparation and cooking of a variety of Indian dishes, maintain high standards of food quality and presentation, and ensure a smooth and efficient kitchen operation. You will work closely with our kitchen team and management to plan menus, control costs, and ensure consistency in taste and presentation.
Key Responsibilities

Plan and organise the preparation and cooking of a variety of Indian dishes according to our recipes and standards

Plan menus and develop new dishes and specials in consultation with management

Estimate food and labour costs, and cost menu items accordingly

Monitor and maintain inventory levels, ordering and restocking raw materials and supplies as needed, ensuring food is stored in temperature-controlled facilities

Monitor the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation

Discuss food preparation issues and feedback with management and kitchen/waiting staff, and work collaboratively to resolve them.

Prepare and cook a variety of Indian dishes according to our recipes and standards

Demonstrate cooking techniques and advise kitchen staff on cooking procedures

Train, supervise and delegate tasks to kitchen staff to ensure smooth, efficient kitchen operations

Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards and regulations at all times

Maintain a clean and organised kitchen, following proper cleaning and sanitisation procedures

Adhere to all company policies, procedures and workplace regulations
Requirements

Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience as a Chef in a high-volume restaurant

Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery/ Kitchen Management and a Diploma in Hospitality Management (or equivalent trade/vocational qualification)

Strong knowledge and experience in Indian cuisine

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously

Excellent time management and organisational skills

Strong leadership and communication skills

Ability to work well within a team environment

Availability to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required
