KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct and complete cyclic asset inspection programs, waste infrastructure
inspections and asset data collection across Council’s waste facilities, including
landfill sites and associated infrastructure.
- Apply asset management principles, standards and legislative requirements relevant
to waste management in a local government environment.
- Acquire and maintain expert user knowledge of Council’s asset management and
asset information systems.
- Development, implement and revise an integrated cost-effective preventative
maintenance program for all plant, equipment and built assets for the facilities.
- Schedule and control maintenance inspections as required to meet the maintenance
program. Report any risks identified to the Project Manager – Waste Services
recommending or initiating risk reduction initiatives that can be applied until
corrective works can be undertaken.
- Ensure appropriate maintenance records are kept.
- Assist in the development of project briefs for consultants and contractors.
- Work with the Contracts & Business Support Officer to undertake the procurement
of goods and services from external sources in accordance with BMCC Policies and
Procedures, including the acquisition of quotations, estimates and/or tenders for
contracted works.
- Contract manage work undertaken by contractors for quality control, compliance with
standards, risk minimisation and to ensure that contractors are acting in accordance
with policies and procedures.
- Contribute to help Council deliver its sustainability goals.

Workplace Health & Safety
Ensure compliance with WHS obligations and responsibilities as outlined in Councils
policies and procedures and under the relevant WHS legislation. These include but are
not limited to: identifying potentially unsafe situations or work practices and notifying your
Supervisor or Manager (or the Health, Safety Manager/Area Safety Representative);
never performing a task that you believe is dangerous or for which you do not have the
experience, or have not received appropriate instructions and training or where the correct
equipment to carry out the task safely is not available; always work in a safe manner and
