An exciting opportunity exists to join a well-established Civil Contractor within their Mining Division. The initial stage of the role is Perth-based, with a strong focus on supporting the acquisition of new project work. The appointed individual will also have the chance to familiarise themselves with company systems and processes, and from time to time or as required, aid on Perth-based projects.
As the role develops, it will transition to a FIFO arrangement, where the Project Manager will lead and deliver remote mining projects. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in executing mining civil projects and will already possess strong relationships with end user clients and site teams.
Job Description
This is a permanent full-time position based in Perth, reporting to the General Manager Mining. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving project success through collaborative stakeholder engagement and providing clear strategic direction.
Accountabilities of the Role
- As Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in both business development and project execution within the mining sector.
- You will leverage your established relationships with mine owners and industry stakeholders to contribute to key business development activities and support the tendering process. This includes, amongst other things, assisting with the development of construction methodologies to underpin successful bid submissions.
- A core component of the position involves providing strong leadership to project teams, with an emphasis on fostering a high-performance and safety-focused culture.
- You will be responsible for ensuring that safety is embedded in all aspects of project delivery, maintaining high standards across every stage of the operation.
- You will act as the principal point of contact for clients, managing client relationships and ensuring effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
- Delivering projects in accordance with the company’s standards, systems Project Management Plans will be an essential part of your responsibilities, driving operational performance and ensuring robust cost control and favourable commercial outcomes.
- Your remit will also encompass diligent contract management, including the management of claims, variations, extensions of time (EOTs), and subcontractor relationships.
- Effective workforce planning and team development are key, as you will be expected to build and develop project teams aligned with organisational goals.
- You will be instrumental in promoting continuous improvement and the adoption of sustainable work practices across all projects, ensuring the ongoing growth and success of the business.
