The Role
Reporting to the Parks Team Leader, the Park Asset Specialist plays an important role in maintaining the safety, functionality and presentation of Council's playgrounds, park furniture and associated infrastructure. Based at Kew Depot and working across the municipality, this hands-on role is responsible for delivering maintenance and repair services that ensure our parks and open spaces remain safe, attractive and welcoming for the community.
You will undertake a variety of maintenance activities, inspections and repair works while working collaboratively with colleagues, contractors and members of the public.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out maintenance, repairs and minor construction works across playgrounds, park furniture and fence assets within Council's open spaces.
- Undertake routine playground inspections and audits to ensure compliance with relevant Australian Standards and identify any safety concerns.
- Arrange for hazards and defects to be repaired, replaced or made safe in a timely manner, ensuring community safety remains a priority.
- Plan and complete maintenance works while considering the horticultural amenity and presentation of park sites, leaving work areas clean and safe upon completion.
About You
- You will bring practical experience in outdoor maintenance, construction, landscaping, carpentry or a related field, together with a strong commitment to safety and high-quality workmanship.
- You have experience installing, repairing and maintaining outdoor furniture, structures or timber assets and enjoy working in a physically active outdoor environment.
- You are self-motivated, organised and capable of managing your workload while responding to changing priorities. Your ability to work both independently and as part of a team, combined with strong communication skills, will enable you to build positive relationships with colleagues and the community.
Qualifications or experience in carpentry, landscaping, welding, forklift operation or medium rigid vehicle operation will be highly regarded.
