Ignite Support Services is a service provider to Non-Government Organisation's and the Department of Communities & Justice, primarily working with young people aged 0-18 years in the Out Of Home Care space. Ignite services clients in Sydney Metropolitan Area, Greater Sydney and travelling to regional areas, offering a range of services such as mentoring, respite, supervised family time visits & transportation. ABOUT YOU:
The ideal candidate will be familiar with youth-centered practices and have a passion for working with young people.
Applicants must have the ability to think on their feet, problem-solve and exceptional time management skills. Applicants must be self-motivated & be able to work unsupervised (Ideal for Social work and the like Students)
Essential Criteria:
- Minimum Certificate IV in Community Services (Welfare) or a related field or 8 completed units of a Bachelor degree in a related field such as Social Work, Psychology, Policing, Teaching or Nursing
- Working With Children's Check valid for paid employment
- National Police Check issued within the last 12 months
- Current First Aid certificate
- Your own comprehensively insured vehicle with at least two anchor points
- A current unrestricted drivers licence. Applicants expecting to obtain their full license within the next month are encouraged to apply
- An excellent driving record
- First Aid Kit (or willingness to obtain)
- A mobile phone you can always make calls from that can access the Internet
- An understanding of the laws governing NSW Child Protection Services, Mandatory Reporting requirements and Out of Home Care services.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbally and written
- High standard of personal presentation
- Minimum availability of 3 weekdays (Monday to Friday) afternoons (between 2:00pm and 6:30pm)
- Kindness, empathy and understanding
- Willingness to drive long distances and out of your local area
- Good physical health Please note: You may be required to lift and/or assist children.
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience working with children and young people or in the Out of Home Care sector
- Fluency in a second language other than English are encouraged to apply
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of children in your care at all times
- Safely transport children to appointments, school, or any other confirmed location
- Provide in home support to children, carers and families
- Supervise access visits with significant others, ensuring the safety and well being of the child
- Role model parenting skills and techniques
- Complete written reports reflecting the interactions between the child and their family members during visits
- Mentor and support children and young people in achieving set goals
- Maintain communication with management staff as necessary and adhere to Mandatory Reporting obligations
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with legislation
