Position Description — Contractor / Locum
ABOUT FULL BODY MRI
Full Body MRI is a premium private MRI clinic located in Subiaco, Western Australia, providing full-body MRI screening examinations, musculoskeletal MRI and preventative health imaging services to privately paying patients.
We are building a clinic with a clear clinical identity: high-quality MRI reporting, genuine patient focus and turnaround times that match the expectations of privately paying patients and their referring practitioners. The quality of our reports is central to our reputation.
ROLE OVERVIEW
This position is offered primarily on a contractor or locum basis, with reporting performed either remotely via teleradiology or from a dedicated on-site reporting workstation at our Subiaco clinic.
The Consultant Radiologist is responsible for delivering accurate, clinically relevant and well-communicated reports for musculoskeletal and full-body MRI examinations. The role requires an experienced radiologist who takes pride in the quality of their reporting, is responsive to referring practitioners and is comfortable working independently within a small, professional clinic environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Reporting
- Report musculoskeletal MRI examinations to a high specialist standard.
- Report full-body MRI screening examinations, including structured summarisation of findings across body regions.
- Produce accurate, clinically relevant and actionable reports for referring GPs and health practitioners.
- Communicate significant, unexpected or urgent findings promptly and in accordance with professional obligations.
- Maintain consistency and quality of reporting across the full range of examinations undertaken.
- Participate in peer consultation with colleagues where appropriate.
Referrer Support
- Provide clarification or discussion of findings when requested by referring practitioners.
- Maintain professional and responsive communication with GPs and clinic staff.
- No routine direct patient consultation is required as part of this role.
Turnaround Times
- Musculoskeletal MRI: reports delivered within 24–48 hours of examination.
- Full-body MRI screening: reports delivered within 5 business days of examination.
Adherence to agreed turnaround times is a core requirement of this engagement. Consistently meeting these expectations directly supports the patient experience and referrer relationships that underpin the clinic's reputation.
PROFESSIONAL OBLIGATIONS
- Maintain FRANZCR status and specialist registration with AHPRA.
- Maintain current professional indemnity insurance appropriate to the scope of reporting undertaken.
- Comply with all relevant professional, legal, ethical and reporting obligations.
- Participate in continuing professional development as required by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists.
- Notify clinic management promptly of any change to registration status, indemnity coverage or capacity to fulfil agreed reporting commitments.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Essential
- Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (FRANZCR).
- Current specialist registration with AHPRA.
- Demonstrated MRI reporting expertise.
- Experience reporting musculoskeletal MRI examinations.
- Excellent written communication skills with the ability to produce clear, structured and clinically useful reports.
- Current professional indemnity insurance.
Highly Desirable
- Experience reporting full-body or multi-region MRI screening examinations.
- Background in or interest in preventative health imaging.
- Broad cross-sectional imaging expertise across MSK, abdominal and neurological MRI.

ENGAGEMENT CONDITIONS
This position is offered on a contractor or locum basis. Specific terms including reporting volumes, session structure, remuneration and billing arrangements will be agreed individually and documented in a formal services agreement.
Remote reporting is facilitated via secure teleradiology infrastructure. On-site reporting is available at the Subiaco clinic by arrangement.
