Decorwise Painting Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced and skilled Painter to join our team on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will apply paint, varnish, wallpaper and other finishes to protect, maintain and decorate the interior and exterior surfaces of residential and commercial buildings and structures, while maintaining excellent workmanship and workplace safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Erect and dismantle scaffolding, ladders and trestles, and lay drop sheets to protect furniture, floors, fixtures and adjacent areas from paint splatter and damage during works.
- Prepare interior and exterior surfaces for painting by removing old paint and wallpaper, fixing and making good woodwork, filling holes and cracks, and smoothing, sanding and sealing surfaces before applying primers and undercoats.
- Select and prepare paints to the required colours and finishes, including mixing pigments, oils and thinning and drying additives, and accurately matching colours to project specifications.
- Apply paints, varnishes, stains and other protective and decorative finishes to surfaces using brushes, rollers and spray equipment, in accordance with project specifications and client requirements.
- Hang wallpaper and other wall coverings, matching patterns and trimming edges to achieve a neat, high-quality finish.
- Repair and maintain previously painted, varnished or finished surfaces as required.
- Inspect completed work to ensure coverage, finish and quality standards meet specifications and client requirements.
- Clean, maintain and store painting tools and equipment, and keep work areas clean, tidy and safe.
- Follow all workplace health and safety policies, procedures and safe work practices.
- May be required to repair windows and replace glass in wooden and metal frames.
- May be required to lay and repair wall and floor tiles.
- Skills and Experience Required
- Certificate III in Painting and Decorating (or equivalent qualification).
- Minimum of 1–2 years of relevant work experience as a Painter.
- Strong knowledge of painting techniques, materials, surface preparation and colour matching methods.
- Sound knowledge of the safe use and maintenance of brushes, rollers, spray equipment, scaffolding and ladders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering quality workmanship.
- Ability to complete work within required timelines while maintaining safety standards.
