Job Description
Ramsay Health Care is seeking an accomplished and commercially focused Director of Finance to lead financial strategy and performance across our Newcastle Network of Hospitals, including Lake Macquarie Private Hospital, Warners Bay Private Hospital, Ramsay Surgical Centre Charlestown, and Berkeley Vale Private Hospital. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will provide strategic financial leadership across the network, partnering with hospital executives to drive financial sustainability, operational performance, and informed decision-making. Supported by an on-site Finance Assistant and Ramsay’s Finance Service Centre, you will lead a high-performing finance function focused on governance, continuous improvement, and delivering value that supports exceptional patient care. What You’ll Do
As Director of Finance, you will play a key role in driving financial performance and operational excellence across the Newcastle Network. Partnering closely with hospital leadership and corporate finance teams, you will provide commercial insights, strengthen financial governance, and support informed decision-making that enables sustainable growth and exceptional patient care.
Key responsibilities include:

Analyse financial performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, growth, and commercial outcomes.

Lead the development and delivery of annual budgets, forecasts, and business plans.

Provide leadership across key non-clinical functions, including Finance, Business Office/Patient Administration, Consulting Suites, and Health Information Services.

Oversee capital expenditure planning and ensure effective financial management of investment decisions.

Partner with corporate finance teams to deliver accurate reporting, compliance, and financial governance.

Work collaboratively with clinical leaders to build financial capability, supporting teams to understand, monitor, and achieve key performance indicators (KPIs).

Provide strategic financial advice to hospital executives to support operational priorities and continuous improvement.
What You’ll Bring
To succeed in this role, you will bring strong commercial acumen, advanced financial management capability, and the ability to lead and influence across a complex healthcare environment. You will be a trusted finance partner, able to translate financial insights into meaningful business outcomes while building strong relationships with both on-site teams and broader support functions.
You will bring:

Professional qualifications in accounting or finance, with CPA or CA qualifications highly regarded.

Proven experience analysing financial and operational data to identify opportunities, improve performance, and support strategic decision-making.

Strong commercial capability and experience partnering with operational leaders to drive business outcomes.

Exceptional attention to detail, sound judgement, and the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and effectively.

Advanced experience with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and large-scale accounting systems.

Demonstrated ability to influence and support non-financial stakeholders through strong relationship management and collaboration.

Strong proficiency across Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and financial reporting tools.

Lake Macquarie Private Hospital, a 187-bed acute medical and surgical facility at Gateshead, is 15 km south of Newcastle CBD. It is connected by an overhead walkway to the Lake Macquarie Specialist Centre, offering on-site Radiology, Pathology, and specialist medical consulting suites. Serving Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, and the Hunter – New England region, the hospital features the area’s first Private Emergency Department, equipped with six beds and state-of-the-art facilities, providing 24/7 emergency care. Certified to the 8 National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards by Global-Mark, the hospital is committed to quality and customer care. It also houses the Ramsay Cancer Centre, the Hunter Region's only comprehensive private oncology service, offering a full range of oncology services on one campus.
Warners Bay Private Hospital offers a wide range of specialist medical, surgical, rehabilitation, and mental health services to Newcastle and surrounding areas. Our dedicated staff ensure your safety, comfort, and well-being, providing personalised care and superior customer service. We specialise in Orthopaedics, Urology, General Surgery, Gynaecology, Facial Maxillary, Paediatric, Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery, Ophthalmology, Dermatology, and Gastroenterology. Our Rehabilitation Unit supports patient recovery, and we also provide Mental Health services, including a Mental Health Unit and Outpatient Day Programs.
Berkeley Vale Private Hospital, with 50 beds, offers rehabilitation, medical, and mental health services. The facility includes an on-site hydrotherapy pool and a range of allied health services. Ramsay Health Plus Berkeley Vale, renowned for its allied health professionals, provides physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, and other services. Our Rehabilitation Medicine specialists lead targeted rehabilitation programs for neurological, musculoskeletal, orthopaedic, amputee, and other conditions, including options for day patients.
Ramsay Surgical Centre Charlestown, this day stay hospital has just celebrated its first anniversary and is equipped with the latest in healthcare design and technology, providing a modern environment focused on comfort and care. Services include endoscopy, plastic surgery, oral and maxillofacial surgery and mohs dermatology. RSCC joined the Newcastle Network in January 2026 and has been a welcome addition to extending the Ramsay services across the region.
