The role
An exciting opportunity is available for individuals looking to take the next step in their career at Transdev Sydney Ferries, we are looking for eager and motivated Masters to be part of our Operations team. You will be required to ensure safe and efficient navigation and operations of vessels, transportation of passengers and crew in accordance with the requirements of Government Legislation.
You must be prepared to undertake shift work including weekend and public holidays.
An eligibility list talent pool will be created from this recruitment process.
What you bring
Transdev Sydney Ferries are looking for an experienced vessel Master with a demonstrated understanding of, and experience working with, an integrated safety management system. You will have a strong knowledge of appropriate Acts and Statutory Regulations applicable to Ferry Operations, Sydney Harbour and associated government legislation. In addition, you'll have experience operating vessels that are equivalent to those currently operated by Transdev Sydney Ferries.
You will be a proven leader with training and coaching skills, who can build and maintain strong collaborative working relationships with managers and staff at all levels. You will utilise your analytical and problem solving skills daily to assess the day to day operation of vessel and staff management, as well as your strong interpersonal skills to direct and manage crew members.
Additionally, you will be a team player with a demonstrated commitment to high quality customer service. Effective planning and time management skills are essential and will ensure safe journey outcomes and on-time running of vessels.
In addition to the requirements above, you must possess the following current certifications:
- AMSA Master <45m NC Certificate of Competency or higher
- Marine Engine Driver Grade 3 Certificate of Competency (MED3) or higher
- Certificate of Local Knowledge card issued for the Port Authority of NSW
- Provide First Aid Certificate which includes Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation & Provide Basic Emergency life support (HLTAID009,010,011)
- Certificate of Medical Fitness for near coastal seafarers (AMSA 1850)
- Demonstrated ability to swim 50 metres (as issued by local swim centre) or equivalent.
- To be considered for this role, you must possess and upload current copies of the above certificates/qualifications/forms.
