St Basil's Homes (SA) is an independent state-based organisation that provides residential aged care facilities and services to South Australians under the broader umbrella that is the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia. We operate three residential aged care homes: Croydon Park, St Peters and Aegean Village at Christie Downs, all incorporated under St Basil's Homes (SA) and independently managed with a Governing Board and executive management team.
Our organisation employs over 340 people in the delivery of care, services and support. Our staff work individually with each resident, their loved ones, and a team of health professionals, to ensure that our residents can ‘live well, their way’. We strive to provide the best quality care and always ensure that our values of ‘courtesy and kindness’ shine through in everything we do.
The opportunity:
We are seeking expressions of interest from values-aligned people to join our Governing Board and contribute to the next phase of St Basil's Homes (SA). St Basil’s is entering an exciting period of growth, making this a meaningful time to join the Board and help shape the organisation’s future direction.
This voluntary Board role offers the opportunity to apply your professional expertise, strategic insight and commitment to good governance in a sector that is undergoing significant reform and renewed focus on quality, safety, accountability and the rights of older people.
Board members play an important role in setting organisational direction, strengthening oversight and ensuring St Basil's continues to deliver safe, high-quality, person-centred care.
You will contribute to our Board by:
- Guiding strategic direction and long-term sustainability
- Providing strong governance, stewardship and oversight of organisational performance
- Supporting effective risk, compliance, financial and quality governance
- Contributing to constructive discussion, decision-making and continuous improvement
- Attending bi-monthly Board meetings and participating in a dedicated Board subcommittee
What you will bring:
We are particularly interested in hearing from people with board, executive, professional or senior advisory experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Finance, accounting, audit, investment or financial sustainability
- Legal, regulatory, compliance, governance or risk
- Building, construction, property development, infrastructure or capital works
Previous aged care experience is not essential, however an understanding of contemporary governance, ethical decision-making, consumer-centred services and the responsibilities of directors in a regulated environment will be highly regarded.
How to apply:
Expressions of interest close on 31 July 2026 and can be submitted online through the link provided.
