Across the Coast Abilities is looking for reliable Disability Support Workers to provide person-centred supports to NDIS participants in their homes and in the community.
This is a hands-on role supporting people with daily living tasks, personal care, domestic assistance, meal preparation, shopping, appointments and community participation. You will help participants build independence, maintain a safe and clean home environment, and work towards their individual NDIS goals.
What you’ll be doing
In this role, you may support participants with:
- Personal care, including showering, dressing, grooming and toileting
- Domestic assistance, including cleaning, laundry, dishes and general household tasks
- Meal preparation, cooking and basic meal planning
- Grocery shopping, appointments and community access
- Building daily living skills and independence
- Following support plans, routines and participant preferences
- Medication prompts or assistance, where trained and authorised
- Mobility support and manual handling, where trained
- Completing clear shift notes and reporting any concerns
- Maintaining dignity, privacy, choice and respect at all times
About you
This role would suit someone who is reliable, calm, practical and willing to help with a mix of support work and domestic tasks. We are looking for people who can work respectfully in a participant’s home, use common sense, follow instructions and communicate clearly.
You will need to be comfortable assisting with cleaning, cooking, personal care and general day-to-day supports.
Essential requirements
- NDIS Worker Screening Check, or willingness to obtain
- Working with Children Check / Blue Card,
- Current First Aid and CPR, or willingness to obtain
- Current driver licence
- Reliable vehicle with comprehensive insurance
- Mobile phone and ability to complete shift notes
- Good communication and reliability
- Ability to work independently and follow support plans
Desirable
- Certificate III in Individual Support, Disability, Community Services or similar
- Previous disability, aged care, mental health or community support experience
- Experience with personal care, domestic assistance or community access
- Medication assistance training
- Manual handling experience
- Experience supporting participants with complex needs
Employment type
Casual position with weekday, weekend and community-based shifts available.
Pay will be in accordance with the applicable SCHADS Award classification, based on qualifications, experience and duties performed.
