This position qualifies for a Recruitment Incentive Package up to the value of $10,000 (pro-rata part-time/temporary positions less than 18 months), and a reoccurring Annual Retention Bonus valued up to $10,000 (pro-rata part time), under the NSW Health Rural Health Workforce Incentive Scheme.
This scheme recognises the role key health workers play in enabling the delivery of rural and remote health services, and aims to provide incentives over and above award entitlements, to attract and retain staff in these areas.

What you'll be doing
Provide flexible, holistic and culturally sensitive health services to Aboriginal clients and the community, to achieve better health outcomes and better access to health services for Aboriginal people.
The position will support and assist nursing staff in the Emergency Department and MPS Inpatient Unit (Residential Aged care /Respite/ Sub- Acute Care). This will be on a 7-day rotating roster (day/afternoon/night shifts across all days).
- Help address access and equity issues relating to Aboriginal health service delivery at the local level
About Wilcannia
Wilcannia is a small, primarily Aboriginal community in far west NSW situated on the banks of the Darling River. In the heart of the Aussie Outback, life in Wilcannia is quiet, clean and beautiful. The Wilcannia Multi-Purpose Service (MPS) has a 24-hour 2 bed emergency department and 8 residential aged care beds. Wilcannia MPS has been providing care to the local community for over 140 years. As we work in partnership with the RFDS and Maari Ma the position provides opportunity to learn how to work with other healthcare organisations.

- Certificate IV Aboriginal Primary Health Care (Practice) with current registration as an Aboriginal Health Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. Or willingness to complete within 2 years.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and to liaise with other health professionals and external agencies to facilitate integrated care for Aboriginal people.
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, time management, and computer literacy including word processing and data entry skills.
- Active involvement in the local Aboriginal community, with demonstrated understanding and commitment to improving the health issues impacting on Aboriginal communities.
- Ability to work unsupervised, use own initiative and take a lead role in initiating and carrying out community development activities.
