We're looking for an Associate Environmental Scientist to join our Contaminated Land Management (CLM) team in Sydney. In this influential role, you'll provide technical leadership across a diverse portfolio of contaminated land projects while mentoring emerging professionals and helping shape the growth of our CLM business across New South Wales and nationally.
Working alongside talented specialists across WSP's multidisciplinary Environmental business, you'll deliver future-ready solutions for site investigation, environmental due diligence, portfolio assessment, advisory services and remediation planning. Our projects span mining, petroleum-contaminated land, industrial facilities and government assets, helping clients rehabilitate, repurpose and unlock the value of complex sites.

About the Role
As an Associate Environmental Scientist , you'll lead the delivery of contaminated land projects from investigation through to remediation, providing trusted technical advice while supporting the continued growth of our people and clients. You'll play a key role in delivering successful project outcomes, developing long-term client relationships and fostering technical excellence across the team.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading contaminated land investigations, including soil, groundwater and vapour assessments.
- Providing technical leadership, review and advice across complex contaminated land and remediation projects.
- Managing project performance, including budgets, schedules, resources and risk.
- Developing and maintaining strong client relationships while acting as a trusted advisor.
- Preparing and reviewing technical reports and recommendations in accordance with relevant legislation, standards and guidelines.
- Leading and supporting remediation planning and implementation activities.
- Mentoring and developing junior team members while promoting a strong safety and quality culture.
Supporting business development activities, including proposals, pursuits and identifying opportunities to grow client relationships.

About You
We're seeking a respected contaminated land professional with strong technical capability, leadership experience and a passion for developing people and delivering exceptional client outcomes.
You will bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Earth Sciences, Environmental Engineering or equivalent.
- At least 7 years' experience in contaminated land assessment, remediation and environmental consulting.
- Strong understanding of NSW contaminated land legislation, frameworks and regulatory processes.
- Proven experience managing project risk, budgets, schedules and delivery on substantial projects.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and review high-quality technical reports and provide practical client-focused advice.
- Experience developing and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Proven capability supervising, mentoring and developing environmental professionals and field teams.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to guide clients through regulatory processes and complex technical challenges.
