Gympie Regional Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Officer Disaster Management to play a key role in strengthening disaster resilience across our region. Working closely with Council, emergency services, government agencies and the community, you will help ensure our region is prepared for whatever comes next.
As the Senior Officer Disaster Management, you will coordinate and drive disaster management initiatives that enhance preparedness, response and recovery across the Gympie region. You will support the Local Disaster Management Group, contribute to disaster planning and exercises, engage with community stakeholders, and assist in the operation of the Local Disaster Coordination Centre during emergency events.
This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same. Whether you're developing emergency plans, coordinating training exercises, delivering community education programs or supporting disaster operations, your work will have a direct impact on community safety and resilience.
We're looking for someone who has:
- Strong experience in disaster management, emergency management, community resilience or a related field.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- The ability to remain calm, focused and decisive in high-pressure situations.
- Experience developing plans, reports, procedures and strategic initiatives.
- A collaborative approach and the ability to build strong relationships with emergency services, government agencies and community groups.
- A current Queensland C Class Driver Licence.
Qualifications in Emergency Management, Public Safety, Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief, Community Engagement or related disciplines will be highly regarded.
