Use your professional expertise and cultural knowledge to help staff navigate challenges, build resilience and feel supported in the workplace.
- Provide confidential, trauma-informed counselling and early intervention support to Aboriginal staff, fostering wellbeing through culture, connection and shared understanding.
- Support staff experiencing personal or work-related challenges through short-to-medium term counselling interventions.
- Deliver culturally safe and responsive wellbeing support that recognises the unique experiences of Aboriginal people in the workplace.
- Work collaboratively within the Staff Wellbeing & Support Service to promote psychological safety, resilience and staff wellbeing.
- Contribute to a positive workplace culture by supporting early intervention, wellbeing initiatives and staff engagement activities.

- Identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person with strong cultural knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal communities.
- Hold recognised qualifications and registration as a Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist, Social Worker or Counsellor, with demonstrated experience providing counselling services in a professional setting
- Demonstrate a calm, empathetic and non-judgemental approach when supporting people experiencing distress or challenging circumstances.
- Understand the importance of confidentiality, professional boundaries and ethical practice within a workplace counselling environment.
- Build strong, respectful relationships and work collaboratively with colleagues to support staff wellbeing and psychological safety.
Selection Criteria

- An AHPRA registered Psychologist or Social Worker or Australian Psychological Society (APS).- Psychologist: Full registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia or eligible for same and completion of a four-year sequence of accredited undergraduate study in the discipline of psychology (or equivalent completed overseas). - Social Worker: A social work degree which provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) - Counsellor: Recognised qualifications in a counselling degree as determined by SWSLHD
- Describe your understanding of the impacts of intergenerational trauma and Aboriginal concepts of social and emotional wellbeing, and how you apply this knowledge in your practice.
- Describe your experience delivering culturally responsive counselling, therapeutic interventions and wellbeing support to Aboriginal clients and their families, including across a range of modalities such as face-to-face, telephone and online.
Provide an example of your experience responding to a critical incident or traumatic event, including how you provided psychological first aid, counselling or other support to individuals and/or groups.
