Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured and upcoming projects, Shadforth is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Estimator to join our high-performing Pre-Contracts Team.
While our preferred location is our Sunshine Coast Head Office, we're also open to candidates based in our offices across Brisbane, Gold Coast, Ipswich or other South East Queensland locations.
This is an opportunity to take ownership of complex tenders, influence project strategy, mentor emerging estimators, and play a key role in delivering major subdivision and civil infrastructure projects across Queensland and Northern New South Wales.
The Opportunity:
As a Senior Civil Estimator, you'll be responsible for leading the preparation of accurate, competitive tenders from concept through to submission while working closely with operational teams to develop practical and commercially sound solutions.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the pricing and preparation of civil tenders across subdivision, road, infrastructure and earthworks projects.
- Reviewing drawings, specifications, contracts and tender documentation.
- Developing first-principles estimates and construction methodologies.
- Identifying project risks, opportunities and value engineering initiatives.
- Building strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing.
- Collaborating with Project Managers and Construction Teams to ensure estimates are practical and buildable.
- Mentoring junior estimators and contributing to continuous improvement within the estimating team.
About You:
You'll be an experienced civil construction professional who enjoys solving complex problems and developing winning tender strategies.
Ideally you'll have:
- Extensive experience estimating civil infrastructure or subdivision projects.
- Strong knowledge of bulk earthworks, roadworks, drainage, utilities and civil construction methodologies.
- Proven experience preparing detailed first-principles estimates.
- Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
- The ability to build trusted relationships with clients, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
- Experience using estimating software such as Benchmark, Bluebeam, Expert Estimation or similar.
- A collaborative leadership style with the ability to mentor and develop others.
