My client has been at the forefront of geochemical consulting, providing innovative solutions to the mining industry since 1983. An experienced multidisciplinary team that crafts practical and cost-effective strategies that safeguard mine developers, communities and the environment.
They are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Environmental Geochemist to join our team in Perth. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing environmental geochemistry assessments for our clients in the mining industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Development of geochemistry sampling and test work programs.
- Data interpretation and preparation of technical reports.
- Contribute to project management and client communication.
- Mine site visits and client communications.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in Geology or Environmental Geochemistry.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience, preferred 8 years+, within the environmental consulting or mining sector.
Generic Skills:
- Strong understanding of environmental consulting services and the mining industry.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Excellent written communication, particularly in report writing.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients.
- Promotion of the EGi brand through conferences, training, professional associations, etc.
- Comply with all EGi HSE, Employee conduct and quality requirements.
Specific Skills:
- Working familiarity with standards and guidelines around mine waste material characterisation
- Scoping geochemistry sampling and test work programs.
- Laboratory program design
- Understanding the purpose and limitations of test work.
- Understanding methods of material characterisation, including interpretation of static and kinetic leachate data sets.
- Practical understanding of ARD mitigation and management techniques in a mining context.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with hydro-geological modelling programs such as PHREEQC.
- Experience with GIS spatial software QGIS.
- Working knowledge of environmental regulations around project approvals and mine closure for WA, Qld, NT.
