About the Business
Westside Meats is seeking a qualified and experienced Management Accountant to support the financial management, budgeting, cost control and operational reporting functions of the business.
Position Summary
The Management Accountant will be responsible for preparing, analysing and interpreting financial information to assist management with business planning, budgeting, cost control and decision-making. The role involves reviewing business performance, preparing management reports, monitoring operating costs, assisting with financial policies and supporting compliance with accounting and reporting requirements.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be required to:
- Prepare, review and analyse financial reports, management accounts, budgets, forecasts and cash-flow reports.
- Examine the business’s operating costs, income, expenditure, profit margins and financial performance.
- Assist management in preparing annual budgets, financial forecasts and business planning reports.
- Monitor cost centres, business expenses and operational spending to identify financial risks, cost-saving opportunities and performance issues.
- Prepare financial statements and reports for directors, senior management and external accountants where required.
- Analyse sales, labour costs, supplier costs, stock costs, overheads and other financial data to support management decision-making.
- Develop and maintain internal accounting procedures, budgetary controls and financial reporting systems.
- Provide financial advice to management regarding pricing, cost control, cash flow, budgeting and business performance.
- Assist with internal audits, financial investigations and reconciliation of financial records.
- Liaise with external accountants, auditors, bookkeepers, banks and relevant professional advisers when required.
- Ensure financial records are accurate, complete and maintained in accordance with accounting standards, taxation obligations and internal business requirements.
- Prepare reports on business performance, variance analysis, profitability and financial trends.
- Assist in improving accounting systems, financial processes, reporting templates and internal controls.
- Support management with payroll cost analysis, supplier payment review, BAS preparation support and other finance-related administrative functions.
- Perform other accounting and financial management duties reasonably required by the business.
Required Qualifications and Experience
The successful applicant must have:
- A bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in accounting, finance, commerce or a closely related field.
- At least 1–2 years of relevant accounting, finance or management accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis and management reporting.
- Sound understanding of accounting principles, financial controls and business performance analysis.
- Experience using accounting software such as Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, or similar accounting systems.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including spreadsheets, formulas, reconciliations and financial analysis.
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical ability and problem-solving skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and provide accurate financial information to management.
Pay: $76,515.00 per year
