What you’ll do:
Join Santos as a Senior Project Engineer and play a key role in delivering sustaining capital projects across our LNG and pipeline assets. In this position, you will lead and coordinate engineering, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover activities, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Working closely with operations, engineering, project teams, and external contractors, you will provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle while driving operational readiness, safety, and project success.
Key accountabilities include:
- Lead and coordinate engineering, consultants, suppliers, and contractors to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, execution plans, and performance metrics to achieve successful project outcomes.

Monitor project progress, costs, and schedules, working closely with Project Controls and Planning teams to drive delivery performance.

Ensure all project activities comply with Santos HSES requirements, company standards, and relevant regulatory obligations.

Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks through risk assessments, HAZOP participation, and ongoing management of project risk registers.

Prepare and manage scopes of work, engineering studies, execution strategies, and commercial agreements to support project delivery.

Review and approve technical documentation, processes, and project deliverables to support effective execution and governance.

Collaborate with Project Managers, Operations, Engineering, and external stakeholders to ensure operational readiness and seamless project handover.

Provide technical leadership, coaching, and subject matter expertise to project teams and key stakeholders to promote best-practice project delivery.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on compliance, cost efficiency, production performance, and the closure of high-priority actions arising from audits, risk assessments, and assurance reviews.

What you’ll bring:
We are looking for a highly capable and results-driven Senior Project Engineer with a strong background in delivering capital projects within the LNG, midstream, or broader energy industry. Your ability to manage complex stakeholder interfaces and drive projects safely through the full project lifecycle will be key to your success. You will also be able to demonstrate the following:

Extensive experience in Project Engineering, ideally within the LNG, midstream, or related energy sectors.

Strong understanding of the technical, commercial, and project management aspects of delivering capital projects.

Proven experience managing projects from option analysis and concept development through to commissioning, handover, and operational readiness.

Experience delivering facility infrastructure projects and sustaining capital works within operational environments.

Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate small multidisciplinary engineering teams to achieve project objectives.

Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience coordinating interfaces between operations, engineering, contractors, and other project stakeholders.

Experience delivering projects in remote locations and managing the associated logistical and operational challenges.

Proven capability in managing contractor performance and ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient project execution.

Brownfield project delivery experience within operating facilities will be highly regarded.

A degree qualification in Engineering or a related discipline, together with RPEQ and/or CPEng accreditation.
