In this role, you'll:
Working from the Future Mobility Testing and Research Centre (FMTRC), the Test Engineer will spend most of their time outdoors, conducting hands on testing of vehicles on our proving grounds and test tracks. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in the field and has a genuine passion for vehicles, testing, and emerging technologies. You'll have access to some of the industry's most advanced testing facilities and equipment.
The Test Engineer will be responsible for delivering high-quality testing outcomes in line with agreed test schedules and project timeframes. Success in the role requires building and maintaining strong working relationships with both technical and management teams through regular, open, and effective communication. The position will also involve testing outside standard business hours when required, including night-time testing activities. As a hands-on role, the Test Engineer will actively participate in all aspects of vehicle testing, with responsibilities often involving physical work for extended periods.
Other duties will include (not limited to):
Workshop-based work, including equipment maintenance and test vehicle preparation.
Office-based activities, including administration, reporting, and meetings (only about 10% of your working week will be office based).
This role reports into the Manager for Future Mobility Testing.

About You
For you to be successful within this role you should meet with all, or most of the following criteria:
Demonstrated experience in the automotive sector, with a background in mechanical and/or electronic engineering disciplines
Strong understanding/knowledge of modern vehicle safety systems and technologies
Ability to effectively collaborate and communicate within a team of specialist engineers in a highly technical environment
Enthusiastic about working in outdoor environments as part of you day to day responsibilities
Nice to Haves:
Diploma and/or industry-recognised certification in a relevant mechanical, electronic, automotive, or related technical discipline
Full drivers-license
Basic knowledge and understanding of GPS, networks, radio and communication systems, robotics, automation, electronics and fundamental mechanical principles
Demonstrated experience in the interpretation of testing standards and protocols
This is a fixed-term opportunity up until 25th of June 2027. This is a 100% on-site role, working from the Future Mobility Testing and Research Centre, situated on the outskirts of Cudal, central west NSW. This role is paying between $109,773.00 - $119,329.00 + super. The salary level will be assessed based on your relevant skills, experiences, capabilities, and qualifications etc.
