Compassionate Support Workers required in the Bunbury Area. Please note that this position is only suitable to someone residing within the greater Bunbury Region.
High intensity shifts - you will need to have extensive experience in the disability industry, particularly in relation to mental health support. These are active shifts, supporting both within the home (primarily engagement with the participant, however, does involve cooking, cleaning, organising) and within the community.
Variety of casual shifts currently available from 2-hour morning or afternoon through to Full Day (8hrs) and overnight. Short notice availability is advantageous.
You will play a vital role in supporting and empowering people with varied disabilities to live in and access the community independently and to achieve their individual goals
Our supports may include:
- Assistance with day-to-day activities, personal care, hygiene etc
- Transport to and from appointments, education and community activities
- Engaging and coaching participants to learn life skills, achieve goals and embrace their culture
- Supporting participants with mental and physical disabilities
- Administering medication
- Following person-centered support plans
- Utilising positive behavior strategies
- Documenting contacts and progress note keeping
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Flexibility with working hours
- A strong desire to work with people with various disabilities
- Understanding of working with people with challenging behaviours and/or people with disabilities
- Be able to remain calm in stressful situations
- Confidence in your ability to provide personal care in a professional manner
Essential Criteria:
- Must have a current, unrestricted WA driver’s licence
- Must have NDIS screening check
- Must have Current First Aid Certificate
- Completed NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate, or willingness to complete
- Eligibility to work in Australia
- Competent computer skills to complete online training and administration tasks
- Sound written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated organisational and time management skills along with an ability to adapt to changing needs
- Experience or knowledge working with mental health.
- Applicants are required to be female and aged between 25 -45 due to the specific disability related requirements of the participant
