As our Forest Ranger in Charge, you will:
- Develop and lead the implementation of strategic and operational plans for relevant forest products sales programs for a designated team to meet commercial and environmental objectives that are consistent with regional, business and Government policy.
- Monitor the effective, cost efficient and environmentally sound implementation of operational programs and associated risk management, asset protection for the harvesting/extraction and sale of forest products.
- Administer the provisions of the Forestry Act 1959 and other relevant Acts and Regulations, ensuring a consistently high standard of compliance, as they impact on DPI Forestry business activities, approve sales within delegated authority and conduct all aspects of environmental and sustainable forest management in accordance with legislation, policies, sales permit, harvest planning documents, codes, ethical conduct and workplace health and safety standards associated with native forest management activities.
- Provide timely advice to Managers on marketing, management issues, policies, practices, and responses to operations, estates, assets, stakeholders and unauthorised operations.
- Prepare submissions, briefs and responses relating to business and operational management issues.
- Oversee designated forest products sales involving planning, co-ordination of operations, field activities and compliance with contractual obligations and codes and initiate corrective actions.
- Undertake negotiations, consultations, and build working relationships with industry, clients, local and statutory authorities, government agencies, landholders and other stakeholders to address issues associated with current and planned operations.
- Supervise and provide guidance, training and development to direct reports as required.
- Proficiently use geographic information systems and other operational information and technology systems and interpret and manage the storage of spatial and other operational and planning data.
- Undertake other duties as they may arise and within the current skills and capability level of the position, as directed.

- Proficiency or the ability to quickly acquire proficiency in ArcGIS products, google earth or other equivalent spatial mapping programs.
