Ability Rise Accommodation and Care is a growing NDIS service provider specialized in delivering high-quality Supported Independent Living and Specialist Disability Accommodation services. We are seeking passionate, caring and highly committed individuals to be part of our Disability Support Workers team.
In the position of Disability Support Worker, you will be required to provide person-centred support to people with disability in accordance with their NDIS plans and individual support needs. The role focuses on assisting participants with daily living activities, personal care, community participation, and skill development while promoting independence, dignity, choice, and inclusion.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Support participants with daily living activities, including meal preparation, nutrition and household tasks.
- Facilitate daily personal hygiene and care tasks, including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and mobility support.
- Assist participants with shopping, medical appointments, transport, and accessing community activities.
- Provide emotional support, encouragement and companionship.
- Support participants to achieve their individual goals, increase independence, and actively participate in community life.
- Facilitate participant communication and support their choice and decision-making in daily activities.
- Implement approved support plans and behaviour support strategies as directed by supervisors and relevant professionals.
- Monitor participant wellbeing and promptly report any changes, incidents, risks, or concerns.
- Maintain accurate and timely records, including progress notes and incident reports.
- Uphold the rights, privacy, dignity, and confidentiality of all participants at all times.
- Follow organisational policies, NDIS Practice Standards, workplace health and safety requirements, and safe work practices.
- Work collaboratively with families, colleagues, and other stakeholders to support positive participant outcomes.
Requirements
- Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) or other relevant qualification, or sufficient experience in lieu of the qualification.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Current National Police Clearance.
- Medication Administration Certificate.
- Current First Aid (HLTAID001, HLTAID002, HLTAID003).
- Current Driver’s Licence and reliable motor vehicle.
- Understanding of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
- Minimum one year experience in a disability support role.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic computer skills for documentation and record keeping.
- Ability to build rapport and trust with participants and stakeholders.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and sleepovers where required.
Pay: $70,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year
