An opportunity has presented itself for a Locomotive Provisioning Assistant in Training to join our team at our Locomotive Provisioning Centre in Melbourne.
What You’ll Do
Support the safe and efficient operation of our locomotive service facility while developing the skills and knowledge required for future progression opportunities within rail operations.
Reporting to the Locomotive Provisioning Supervisor, you will:

Prepare and provision locomotives for haulage operations

Support train drivers and assist with shunting movements
-
Refuel locomotives and maintain equipment and facility consumables
-
Operate forklifts and associated facility systems
-
Conduct housekeeping and general maintenance activities to ensure a safe and efficient workplace
-
Monitor and maintain equipment to support uninterrupted operations
-
Work within a 24/7 rotating shift roster

Develop your skills and knowledge towards future progression opportunities, including Trainee Locomotive Driver pathways
What You’ll Bring

Strong mechanical aptitude and an interest in technical or operational environments
-
Commitment to safety and following procedures
-
A proactive approach with excellent problem-solving skills
-
Basic computer literacy
-
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
-
Willingness to work a rotating 24/7 shift roster
-
Forklift Licence (LF) highly regarded
-
Previous shunting experience or Cert IV Train Driving units advantageous but not essential
-
A strong commitment to learning and career development
