About the opportunity
As our Technical Shift Leader, you'll report directly to the Technical Services Manager and lead a technical maintenance and support team responsible for servicing multiple operational sites. You'll be accountable for optimising automation reliability, availability and performance while ensuring maintenance activities are delivered in line with Australia Post's national maintenance policies and engineering standards.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll balance people leadership, technical problem-solving and operational delivery. You'll provide guidance during complex fault resolution, support performance improvement initiatives, oversee maintenance compliance and ensure your team is equipped to deliver outstanding outcomes safely and efficiently.
About the facility
As part of the Victorian Technical Services team, you'll play a key leadership role supporting maintenance operations across multiple automated processing facilities throughout Victoria. Our network includes major mail and parcel processing centres equipped with state-of-the-art automation systems, conveyors, PLC-controlled equipment, VFD technology, network communications systems and digital recognition technology.
Working across multiple sites, you'll collaborate closely with operational leaders, engineering specialists, contractors and vendors to ensure our equipment continues to perform at its best and supports the delivery of millions of items across Australia every week.

About you
Qualifications:
-
Relevant Trade or Engineering qualification
-
Certificate IV in Electrotechnology (Systems Electrician), Certificate IV in Engineering or equivalent
-
Current Electrical Workers Licence (as required by State regulations)
-
Certificate IV in Business (Frontline Management) or equivalent (desirable)
-
Strong knowledge of SAP plant maintenance and materials management modules or similar systems
Experience & Capability:
-
Extensive experience leading within a technical maintenance environment
-
Proven experience leading and developing technical teams, including strong performance & change management
-
Demonstrated experience managing automation performance and maintenance delivery

Strong background in preventative and corrective maintenance practices
-
Experience in workforce planning, scheduling and leading teams in dynamic operational environments

Proven ability to build strong relationships with operational stakeholders and technical specialists

Strong focus on safety leadership and compliance
-
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles
-
Experience in continuous improvement and performance monitoring activities

Ability to lead change and drive operational improvements across multiple sites
