Lead the Kitchen Where the River Meets the Menu
Sitting over the edge of the Mooloolah River, The Dock is the Sunshine Coast's take on casual done properly. Relaxed in atmosphere, uncompromising in quality. With a focus on fresh, coastal-inspired food and a front-row seat to one of Queensland's most stunning waterways, this is a kitchen with real character.
We're looking for a Head Chef who can match that character. Someone who brings technical precision to an approachable menu, who thrives in a high-volume coastal venue, and who sees opportunity in a role that goes well beyond the four walls of the kitchen.
About Kickon Group
We are a growing hospitality group with a portfolio of iconic, award-winning venues across Queensland and Victoria. Our investment goes beyond bricks and mortar. We invest in our people through structured training, genuine career pathways, and a culture where performance is recognised and rewarded. Our purpose is simple: to connect people through amazing hospitality.
The Role
As Head Chef at The Dock, you will have full ownership of the kitchen. From menu development and seafood specials to labour management, supplier relationships, and team culture. But this role offers something not many do: genuine collaboration beyond your own four walls.
You'll work directly with the Wharf Events team on a calendar of events that puts your food in front of large, diverse crowds. From intimate functions to large-scale activations. There's also real scope to develop a rotating seafood play and seasonal specials that reflect the best of what the coast has to offer. If you've ever wanted creative input that actually lands on a plate, this is that role.
What You Bring
- Minimum five years' experience in a Head Chef or senior kitchen leadership role.
- Proven ability to lead and develop a team in a high-volume environment.
- Strong financial acumen (food cost, labour control, and rostering).
- Established supplier relationships and confident procurement practices.
- A passion for fresh, coastal cuisine (seafood knowledge is a strong advantage).
- A coaching mentality, you elevate the people around you.
- The cultural intelligence to lead and get the best out of a diverse, multicultural team.
What We Offer
- Creative collaboration with the Wharf Events team across a full events calendar
- Genuine career progression within a growing multi-venue group
- Access to accredited training and professional development programs
- Mentorship from experienced industry leaders
- Comprehensive staff benefits and partner programs
- A kitchen and location worth showing up for
