Applications are invited for a permanent part time Coordinator to oversee Council’s Out of School Hours Care and Vacation Care facility. Hours will be 6 hours/day (Monday – Friday) commencing at 11.30am and finishing at 6.00pm, with a half hour unpaid lunch break. Busier periods will require more than 30 hours per week eg. Vacation Care).The Leeton Out of School Hours Care presently accommodates up to 40 children per day.
The primary purpose of the position is to ensure the service offers a caring and safe environment for the provision of child care services for children between the ages of 5 – 12 years.
Duties: Full details of specific duties are detailed in the Operations section of the position description and include (but not limited to) maintaining up to date knowledge of legislation, regulations and policies & procedures, planning and promotion of a balanced program for school aged children, ensuring systems are in place to manage risks – including risk assessments, incident reporting and Mandatory Reporting and ensure legislated staffing ratios are maintained through weekly rosters.
The applicant will have at least 2 years’ experience in childcare or a related discipline. They will also have sound interpersonal skills with the ability to work as part of a team. A current approved First Aid, Anaphylaxis, Asthma, Child Protection qualifications, Police Check and a current NSW Working with Children Check are essential.
Salary and conditions: The position is Grade 11 in Council’s salary system ($37.84 - $42.38/hour) depending on qualifications and experience.
Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award.
Prior to commencement the successful applicant will be required to undergo a Functional Assessment which includes an alcohol and other drug screening and a hearing test.
