Harbour Rocks Hotel is entering a bold new chapter! Our heritage-listed boutique hotel in the heart of The Rocks has been thoughtfully reimagined through a full refurbishment blending historic character with elevated comfort, warm design, and a more refined guest experience throughout, including our restaurant and bar, Tayim.
We're looking for passionate hospitality creators to join our re-opening team — people who don't just deliver service, but make moments that guests carry with them long after checkout. If you're the kind of person who finds genuine joy in making someone's day, you'll fit right in.
About the Role:
We are looking for Commis Chefs and Cooks to join the team to help us get Tayim's kitchen up and running for our reopening. In this role, you'll be responsible for:
- Preparing and presenting dishes to a consistent, high standard during service, across your assigned section.
- Following recipes, portioning and plating guides to keep quality and consistency across every service.
- Setting up and breaking down your section, keeping prep, storage and workstations clean and organised.
- Supporting senior chefs during peak periods and building your skills across different sections as you grow.
- Maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene and stock rotation throughout the kitchen.
- Working closely with the front of house team to keep service running smoothly and on time.
- Pitching in wherever the kitchen needs a hand during a busy service.
What You'll Bring
- Some kitchen experience as a Commis Chef, Cook or in a similar section role; Certificate III in Commercial Cookery well regarded but not essential.
- A strong work ethic and genuine willingness to learn and take direction from senior chefs.
- A calm, organised approach to fast-paced service and the ability to work well as part of a team.
- Good knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards, or a willingness to build this on the job.
- A genuine interest in hospitality and in being part of a hotel's opening team.
- Ambition to keep developing your skills and progress through the kitchen over time.
