Network Administrator
Job summary
The Network Administrator is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting an organization’s network infrastructure to ensure secure, reliable connectivity and performance. This role supports local and wide area networks, cloud connectivity, VPNs, firewalls, and network security controls, and helps deliver dependable service to end users and IT systems.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain and administer network infrastructure (switches, routers, wireless controllers/APs, VLANs, routing, DNS/DHCP where applicable).
- Monitor network health and performance; identify, triage, and resolve network incidents and outages.
- Implement and manage network security controls (firewalls, ACLs, segmentation, secure remote access, VPNs).
- Support user and site connectivity (LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, internet access, DNS/DHCP, static routing as needed).
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot network services and protocols (e.g., OSPF/BGP basics if used, STP where applicable, 802.1X if applicable).
- Perform routine maintenance (firmware/software upgrades, configuration backups, patching, capacity planning).
- Maintain documentation: network diagrams, IP addressing schemes, runbooks, configuration baselines.
- Work with IT teams and vendors on projects such as migrations, new site deployments, and network refreshes.
- Ensure compliance with security policies and internal standards; support audits and change management.
- Manage backups and disaster-recovery readiness for network configurations.
- Provide on-call or after-hours support (if required).
Required qualifications
- 2+ years of hands-on experience administering enterprise networks (or equivalent).
- Strong troubleshooting skills using monitoring and diagnostic tools (e.g., ping, traceroute, DNS tools, switch/router logs, packet capture if applicable).
- Proficiency with network fundamentals: TCP/IP, subnetting, VLANs, routing, routing tables, and basic security concepts.
- Experience with network monitoring/management tools (e.g., SNMP/NetFlow/Syslog-based monitoring).
- Familiarity with common networking platforms from at least one major vendor (Cisco, Juniper, Arista, Aruba, Fortinet, Palo Alto, etc.).
- Knowledge of security fundamentals relevant to networks (segmentation, least privilege, secure remote access).
Preferred qualifications
- Relevant certifications such as:
- Cisco CCNA/CCNP, Juniper JNCIA/JNCIS, CompTIA Network+
- Security-related certs (e.g., Fortinet NSE series, Security+) depending on environment
- Experience with wireless (WLC/controller-based or cloud-managed) and authentication (e.g., 802.1X).
- Experience with VPNs, firewall policy management, and network segmentation strategies.
- Experience with cloud networking or hybrid connectivity (e.g., site-to-site VPN, VPC/VNet fundamentals).
- Scripting/automation skills (PowerShell, Python, Bash) for configuration checks and operational tasks.

Pay: $11,670.34 – $14,174.54 per month
