About Your New Role

We're looking for Disability Support Workers in Brisbane. The role involves offering both social and physical assistance to clients in their homes and community. Our team members play a vital role in helping our clients shape and enhance their lives. About You

You have advanced skills in assisting customers who have a wide range of disabilities.
You're good at handling a busy schedule and can quickly deal with unexpected situations.
You care about making a positive impact on others' lives.
You're experienced in dealing with tough and complicated behaviours.
Having experience in mental health and psychological support is a plus.

Job Responsibilities

Disability support worker jobs require the provision of all-encompassing care and support.

Duties vary depending on the customer’s needs but generally speaking, disability support worker jobs involve:

Handling personal grooming activities of the client
Meal preparation
Housekeeping duties such as cleaning, doing laundry and shopping
Providing emotional support
Transporting the client to appointments or social gatherings
Liaising with other health care professionals, carers, and the family
Assisting the client with their medication including self-administration of medicine (where appropriate)
Helping the client through physical therapy and mobility
Planning day-to-day activities and care programs and social activities to help the client interact with others more
Organising enriching activities, which will help stimulate the client’s intellect, skills, and abilities
Updating and maintain the client’s records and paperwork.

Qualifications required

The minimum entry qualification is Certificate III in Disability, Aged Care or Individualised Support. Other important requirements include:

First Aid Certificate
Valid driver’s licence
Cleared criminal history screening, which includes passing checks for working with people with disabilities, minors and aged persons.
