Overview
At Beaumaris Secondary College, Leading Teachers are highly skilled classroom practitioners who undertake leadership and management roles. Leading Teachers play an important role in enhancing student learning outcomes through their influence and impact in leading and developing programs. Leading Teachers are expected to lead and manage a significant area or function within the school with a high degree of independence to ensure the effective development, provision and evaluation of the school¿s education program. Leading Teachers will also be expected to make a significant contribution to policy development relating to teaching and learning in the school. A Leading Teacher has a direct impact and influence on the achievement of the school goals, and is usually responsible for the implementation of one or more priorities contained in the school strategic plan.

Key Responsibilities
This role is responsible for designing and leading a strategic approach to strengthen student connection, belonging, voice and leadership across the College. - To create a more inclusive and accepting environment so that students at the College feel safe, comfortable and connected
- To raise a generation of strong young leaders who can create lasting impacts on the College and our wider community
Student Leadership and Voice
- Create and maintain structures which develop strong student leaders across the College.
- Coordinate student focus groups and student representative bodies, ensuring authentic student voice in school decision-making processes.
- Ensure student leaders are represented in, or lead, key College and community events.
- Develop opportunities for students to contribute to the improvement of College culture, programs, and community initiatives.
- Support the implementation of the student voice, agency and leadership across the College.
Student Connection and Inclusion
- Oversee initiatives which promote student belonging, participation, and connection within the school community.
- Promote a culture of inclusivity and respect, and high expectations, in which all students feel valued, supported, and safe.
- Promote the respect and inclusion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, implementing strategies that support self-determination in education
- Work collaboratively with staff to recognise and celebrate student achievement, growth, participation, and contribution.
- Collect and analyse data on student belonging, engagement, participation, and attendance to inform program development and improvement.
- Engage in regular pulse checks to review evidence of impact
Community Partnerships and Engagement
- Build positive relationships with families and community partners to enhance opportunities and outcomes for students.
- Identify and facilitate opportunities to connect curriculum programs and student learning experiences with the local and wider community.
- Develop and promote a culture of volunteering, contribution and community participation across the College.
- Contribute to the planning and delivery of key community-facing events, including opportunities for meaningful student participation and leadership.

Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.

- The person must have provisional or full registration approved by the Victorian Institute of Teaching; and
