Primary objective
Responsible for the efficient daily operational requirements of the Manayangkarrira Creche, including providing quality care to
children. The position is required to work under the supervision of the SAO1 Childcare Director (Manager), who is managed by the
Integrated Services Leader, who liaises with the Principal and College Council.
Context statement
Manayangkarrira Creche operates from the Child and Family Centre at Maningrida a College, a remote Indigenous birth to year 12
education setting located in West Arnhem land approximate 560kms from Darwin The college works in partnership with
government and Aboriginal led organisations to build and deliver high quality integrated early childhood services that meet the
needs of young children and families and gives every child the best start in life. Manayangkarrira Creche is an approved childcare
service and have recently been assessed as meeting all national quality standards. Working within the creche to lead programming
and care for community families, the position also works to positively grow and continually improve our service by leading early
childhood team members who hold certificate level qualifications or are working toward these including local indigenous team
members.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Lead the day-to-day operations of the creche.
2. Contribute to the planning and implementation of a quality educational program.
3. Support staff to create an inclusive environment so all children can thrive.
4. Ensure all health and safety procedures are followed daily.
5. Work with and support staff to plan, deliver and assess learning cycles in line with the Early Years Learning Framework.
6. Be a role model to other educators and support them to grow.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Proven ability to work well and positively interact with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
2. Proven ability to contribute to a continuous programming cycle through observations, planning and assessing.
3. Proven ability to work as a team and lead by example.
4. Proven working knowledge of the Early Years Learning Framework and National Quality Standards.
5. Proven knowledge and understanding of the developmental needs of children aged 3 months to 5 years, including children with
additional needs.
Desirable
1. Diploma in Early Childhood Education and care.
