Mona is seeking a skilled Collections & Exhibitions Technician to join our dedicated Art Management team on a full-time, fixed-term basis for 12 months. The Museum of Old and New Art (Mona) challenges conventions through its eclectic and provocative collection of art and artifacts, sparking dialogue and redefining the museum experience. This role offers the opportunity to work hands-on with a world-class collection, contributing to the practical care, handling and installation of artworks across Mona's sites and off-site projects.
Working within Mona's established collection management procedures, you will play a key part in maintaining the highest standard of museum collections management and exhibition display, with a particular focus on storage, archival fabrication and documentation. This is a role for someone who finds satisfaction in precision and care, who works well from a clear brief, and who can problem-solve and adapt when the situation calls for it.
The Gig:

Participate in the care of the collection, working to established protocols and procedures and contributing to their enhancement as required.

Assist with the installation and deinstallation of collection and exhibition loan works.

Participate in the design and fabrication of object mounts, specialist crates and archival boxing, ensuring safe and efficient storage.

Support the movement of the collection for incoming and outgoing activity at all Mona facilities, including artwork inspection, preparation, documentation and packing.

Assist with the application of the preventive conservation program, including environmental monitoring, IPM, ISPM15 and Mona's disaster recovery program.

Maintain tools and workshop equipment, ensuring safe operation.
The You:

A sound understanding of diverse artwork installation methodologies (essential)

Prior experience installing multi-media artwork and interpreting design documentation (essential)

4-5 years experience working alongside museum specialists such as Curators, Registrars and Conservators in a project delivery capacity (highly desirable)

Appropriate high-risk licences, including EWP and Forklift (highly desirable)

Sound computer literacy, including the ability to use Google Suite (desirable)
