Our team in Somerton, Victoria is searching for our next Workshop Supervisor. Reporting to the Victorian Fleet Maintenance Manager, this position will lead a skilled & dedicated workshop team while overseeing workshop safety & compliance. The key focus of this role is to work closely with the Victorian operational teams and provide safe and reliable plant and equipment, maximising uptime and minimising business interruption.
Key responsibilities include:
Promoting and enforcing a strong, proactive safety culture aligned with Downer’s Zero Harm policies.
Overseeing all daily maintenance activities, upholding workshop efficiency with focus on asset availability
Managing equipment defects and compliance, responding to unplanned field repairs utilising internal and external resources
Engaging with the external supplier network to develop consistent and accountable outcomes
Ensuring accurate job documentation & service records.
A hands-on approach to workshop leadership, supporting technicians with complex diagnostics, fault finding and repair execution.
What you’ll bring
- Mechanical Trade qualifications with at least 3 year’s experience across construction, road transport, mining or similar
- Successful track record of workshop supervision with proven leadership and coaching skills
- Demonstrated ability of building relationships with key stakeholders
- Exposure to scheduling maintenance over large geographically disperse areas in a highly dynamic environment whilst maintaining customer service
- Timely and quality decision making, working effectively under tight deadlines
- Computer literacy, with strong practical knowledge of Excel & the MS Office suite, will be highly regarded.
