The role
7-Eleven has reimagined what work means for our people and, with a focus on agile, our exciting new way of working is designed to increase collaboration, provide greater flexibility, and deliver rewarding development opportunities. Central to enabling this transformation is a focus on design thinking and experience design: to uplift our organisational capability in creativity, iterative development, human-centricity, and above all, innovation.
Our Senior UX/UI & Design Systems Lead is responsible for shaping how design works at scale at 7-Eleven. You are a custodian of our design practice, architecting the systems, components and standards that power consistent, high-quality experiences across our experience ecosystem (digital and 'phygital' products, services and experiences), while also leading strategic UX/UI design work that puts the customer at the centre of everything we do. You bring structure to complexity, helping teams navigate governance and compliance requirements while maintaining creative problem solving.
What a typical day might consist of …
-
Design, build and maintain a scalable design system including reusable components, templates, metadata-rich assets and usage guidelines that enable speed, consistency, and quality across digital channels
-
Lead end-to-end UX/UI design work on strategic projects, applying human-centred design methods to solve complex customer and business problems
-
Collaborate with developers, content teams, and product owners to ensure design systems integrate seamlessly into platforms such as Figma, AEM, CMS and DAM environments
-
Embed brand, accessibility and compliance guardrails into design components, AI tools and orchestration workflows
-
Connect multidisciplinary stakeholders around journey maps, service blueprints and experience design artefacts
-
Monitor adoption and consumption patterns of design system components, iterating based on feedback and performance data
-
Champion human-centred design and represent the customer voice in cross-functional engagements
-
Mentor chapter members and support the broader design team in applying design systems and UX/UI best practice
-
Run and facilitate design workshops, design sprints and collaborative working sessions with key stakeholders as needed
-
Stay across the latest design tools, AI platforms and methods to ensure the practice remains current and competitive
-
Contribute to the strategic roadmap for design system scalability and enterprise alignment
What’s in your toolkit?
-
Strong understanding of interaction design and its application across digital content and components
-
Significant experience in UX/UI design, with a strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end design across digital and 'phygital' products, services and experiences including user testing and quality assurance
-
Deep expertise in design system architecture including component development, Figma library creation and management, and design token frameworks
-
Strong HCD research skills including: ethnographic research methods, reframing, affinity diagramming, insight and behavioural analysis and synthesis
-
Demonstrated experience embedding accessibility, inclusive design standards and brand governance into design systems and workflows
-
Technical fluency across platforms such as Figma, Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), Adobe Suite, Adobe Express, Miro, Maze, Dovetail, Askable, CMS and DAM environments
-
AI fluency including LLM literacy, prompt UX design, ethical AI design principles and integration of AI tools such as Co-Pilot, Figma Make and Adobe Express into design workflows
-
Experience with API integration awareness, and how design systems connect with development pipelines
-
Strong communication, workshop facilitation, coaching and influencing skills across all levels of the organisation
-
Planning and project management skills to manage supply and demand of design system assets, drive outcomes and mitigate risks
-
Performance tracking and optimisation mindset monitoring design system adoption and identifying opportunities for simplification
Desirable but not essential if you …
-

-
Have a background in interaction design, UX writing or content design
