Guildford Public School is situated on the traditional homelands of the Cabrogal of the Dharug Nation. Opened in 1915, Guildford Public School now serves a diverse and multicultural community with 91% of the 609 students being from a non-English speaking background. Approximately 26% are from an Arabic speaking background while 26% are from a Dari, Hazaraghi or Urdu speaking background. 2% of students identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. 1. Approval to teach infants and primary K-6. Approval to teach Primary English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D), supported by an approved postgraduate qualification in Teaching English as a Second Language (K–, as recognised by the NSW Department of Education.
2. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a team to support the literacy and English language skills of EAL/D students, including New Arrival students (NAP), using knowledge of the ESL scales and incorporate EAL/D strategies into daily classroom practice.
3. Capacity to support students through effective classroom and behaviour management skills to enhance learning, engagement and wellbeing.
4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills and experience in working collaboratively towards school improvement.
5. Proven ability to effectively track student progress and use data to differentiate content for a wide variety of learning needs
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
