House of Bungalow — Surry Hills, Sydney
Full-time | $70,000 + superannuation
House of Bungalow is a new hospitality destination opening in the heart of Surry Hills.
We are now looking for a capable and hands-on Restaurant Supervisor to support the Restaurant Manager in launching and operating our 80-seat ground-floor restaurant.
This is a hands-on, floor-based leadership role within the restaurant. You will help run shifts, support the front-of-house team and ensure high standards are maintained throughout service. The role suits someone with solid hospitality experience who is ready to take the next step into a supervisory position, working closely with senior management.
The Role
Working closely with the Restaurant Manager, you will help oversee the restaurant’s day-to-day service and operations.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the floor and FOH team across lunch, happy hour and dinner
- Running pre-service briefings and keeping the team prepared
- Upholding service, presentation and hospitality standards
- Managing reservations, walk-ins, table allocation and guest flow
- Recruiting, training, coaching and developing the FOH team
- Handling rosters, timesheets, opening/closing and cash reconciliation
- Monitoring stock levels and coordinating with kitchen, bar and leadership
- Supporting events, group bookings and busy weekend trade
- Ensuring RSA, food safety and workplace compliance; stepping in as senior leader when needed
About You
You are confident, organised and calm under pressure. You understand that strong hospitality is not only about completing service — it is about reading the room, anticipating what guests need and helping the team perform at its best.
You will ideally have:
- 2+ years' experience as a Restaurant Supervisor, Duty Manager or senior FOH role in a quality, high-volume venue
- Strong floor-management skills and experience leading and training FOH teams
- Solid wine knowledge and confidence guiding guests and staff on wine and food pairing
- A genuine interest in food, wine, cocktails and contemporary hospitality
- Great communication, problem-solving and attention to detail
- Confidence with reservation and POS systems
- Current NSW RSA and full Australian working rights
- Availability for evenings, weekends and public holidays
Experience with venue openings, premium casual dining, shared-plate restaurants, events or high-energy weekend trade will be highly regarded.
What We Offer
- Full-time salary of $70,000 plus superannuation
- Tips in addition to your salary
- The opportunity to help launch a major new Surry Hills venue
- A genuine second-in-command position with meaningful responsibility
- Direct support and development from the Restaurant Manager and leadership team
- The opportunity to help shape the restaurant’s service culture from the beginning
- Career progression within a growing hospitality group
- A creative, ambitious and collaborative working environment
- Staff training, meals and venue benefits
